Dr Hardeep BhattaDr Hardeep Bhatta

Dentist

Hardy, as he is affectionately known by friends, grew up in Ilford (part of Greater London), Essex in England. He was born just a stone's throw away in Seven Kings. Hardy attended the University of Glasgow and Glasgow Dental Hospital and School in Scotland, graduating with his BDS in 1995 (this, to some extent, explains his "accent"). After attending an externship in Hong Kong in 1994, he published a paper in The British Journal of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery in 1996 on asymptomatic impacted wisdom teeth. As a dentist, he worked in Basildon (Essex), East Ham (London), and Harrow (London). After visiting family in Vancouver in 1988, he fell in love with Canada and became determined to one day work here. This goal was ultimately fulfilled after gaining his DMD at UBC Dental School in 2001.

Special interests in TMD, Sleep Apnea, Complex Restorative, Cosmetics, and Invisalign have kept his Continuing Education program filled with advanced courses. His treatment goal and philosophy is to provide well educated decisions alongside his patients to improve not only their dental health but overall physical health. By carefully aligning his patient's needs towards ideal dental health, a unique and rewarding partnership is formed in the common road to dental fitness. He strives to provide a warm, friendly, and inviting atmosphere to all he is honoured to serve. He cares not only about the smile, but more importantly the person behind the smile. He will always have a warm welcoming positive energy and attitude ready and waiting for you.

Hardy is the proud father of 3 young children. His wife is an elementary school teacher who works in the Surrey school district. Hardy enjoys technology, reading non-fiction, computers and movies. His spare time currently is focused on his young family. He enjoys traveling and learning about new cultures, historical artefacts, listening to music (especially British 80s!), and loves engaging with people.

Dentist

Born and raised in the Vancouver area, Al attended UBC and graduated in Dentistry 1976. He established his Port Coquitlam practice in 1977. His passion and continuing education have been in the areas of advanced restorative, cosmetic, and implant dentistry. The approach and philosophy Al has always embraced is to inform and encourage his patients toward optimal dental health. To this end, he wishes to actively involve each patient with the ultimate decisions toward any necessary treatments. He takes great pride in delivering all treatments with careful attention to detail in a trusting and caring environment.

In the community, Al and his family are active in a local church and in efforts to help the homeless. In 2010, he travelled to West Africa to assist his son with a humanitarian project.

Music has always been a big part of the Friesen home. Al's wife Merilee is a lifelong music educator and his 3 grown children and son in law also have that passion. Al also pursues a wide range of outdoor activities including skiing (water and snow), fitness, gardening/ landscaping, and he recently added astronomy as a hobby. Being a grandpa now has added another wonderful dimension to his life

Lisa Certified Dental Assistant Lisa

Certified Dental Assistant

Lisa was born and raised in Maple Ridge. She's a mother, wife, and CDA. Lisa took her assistant training at Douglas College and graduated in February 1990. Her dental journey and interest was sparked as a child by her first dentist who was extremely gentle, kind, and more importantly, painless. It amazed her when others said they were afraid of their dentist. One of Lisa's missions is to make dentistry fun and to use humour to help her patients feel more at ease. She takes an avid interest in her local community, particularly with the local swim club, and much of her spare time is spent at one of the many local pools.
